چکیده
Abstract Aim Abdominal Wall Repair (AWR) is a surgical procedure with risk of bleeding during and after its performance. Patients who reject blood transfusion require strategies to avoid or increase the margin indication for transfusion. Materials methods We analyzed Jehovah's Witnesses patients underwent AWR in our hospital perioperative management aiming prevent fatal anemia allow performance surgery this group patients. Results present three undergoing multirecurrent midline incisional hernias. All them attended hematology consultation prior improve their situation at time surgery. During surgery, hemostatic material was used areas subsequent bleeding. received iron and, discharge, dose erythropoietin if needed. Patient characteristics are presented table. No requiring other complications occurred. Follow-up outpatient clinics showed correct evolution. Conclusions Multidisciplinary care particular attention condition refusal makes complex abdominal wall feasible safer.

Intra-Abdominal and Abdominal Wall Desmoid Fibromatosis
Desmoid fibromatosis is a rare but locally aggressive tumor comprised of myofibroblasts. Desmoids do not have the ability to metastasize but can cause significant morbidity and mortality by local invasion. These tumors may occur throughout the body, but are commonly found on the abdominal wall and within the intestinal mesentery. Desmoids in these areas may cause unique clinical problems for ph...
متن کاملMedicolegal consequences of postoperative intra-abdominal adhesions.
Postoperative adhesions are an almost invariable consequence of abdominal and pelvic surgery. Their most important morbidity is small-bowel obstruction, but other sequelae include female infertility and dyspareunia and increased risk of visceral injury at subsequent laparotomy or laparoscopy. Whether chronic abdominal pain is truly a consequence of adhesions is debatable, although it is likely ...
متن کاملWhat's new in medical management strategies for raised intra-abdominal pressure: evacuating intra-abdominal contents, improving abdominal wall compliance, pharmacotherapy, and continuous negative extra-abdominal pressure.
In the future, medical management may play an increasingly important role in the prevention and management of intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH). A review of different databases was used (PubMed, MEDLINE and EMBASE) with the search terms 'Intra-abdominal Pressure' (IAP), 'IAH', ' Abdominal Compartment Syndrome' (ACS), 'medical management' and 'non-surgical management'. We also reviewed all pape...

متن کاملAbdominal wall repair using human acellular dermis.
BACKGROUND The surgical repair of abdominal wall defects that cannot be closed primarily in contaminated fields is a difficult problem. The use of nonabsorbable synthetic materials usually is contraindicated in this setting because of the risk for colonization and chronic infection of the mesh. In this study we sought to determine the safety and efficacy of implanted human acellular dermal graf...
